In all, the game’s environment is a bit of smoke and mirrors – it’s there to give players a rather big environment to drive around that resembles something that you might seen in the real world, but it’s there solely for the purpose of presentation and there is no functional need for the town, people, or fellow drivers to exist. For those that care, Farming Simulator has the license for various real-world manufacturers of farming equipment, and that authenticity helps build a connection to the environment that you’ll be working it – it all feels that much more real for it. Farming Simulator 14 was released for iOS, Android, Nintendo 3DS, Windows Phone and PlayStation Vita on November 18, 2013, [16] and gives a more polished and more casual gaming experience on mobile platforms than its predecessors. Players can also jump out of the vechile and wander around in first person, but since there’s nothing to do but admire the (admittedly reasonably pretty) scenery, that’s a rather pointless function. Cars don’t react if hit by a head-on collision, either, and the town that is featured in Farming Simulator 2014 is a sleepy one indeed; it’s rare to see more than a few moving bits on screen at any one time.

Some key new features include a redesigned graphics engine and the addition of horse farming as well as oat and cotton crops. Some have criticised the games for their repetition and lack of interesting mechanics, while others argue such qualities should be expected in a simulator. We will introduce you exclusively to Newpay finance products provided by NewDay Limited under this Introducer Appointed Representative arrangement. Almost a year after its PC release, it received a large update and re-release under the title Farming Simulator 2013 Titanium Edition, on October 10, 2013.This isn’t an economic sim by any means but progress becomes very slow and methodical once hired help becomes a necessary investment, and it is entirely possible to fail and sink into all kinds of financial pain. This environment in many ways resembles the model dioramas that people like to build… and is equally lacking for interactivity. Other games obviously make better use of the system's features, but I can't think of many that seem like they were so tailor-made to be played on the Vita.

See a pedestrian on the side of the road, and you can drive right through him or her, and the vehicle will just pass through as though they were a ghost. You plough a field; you set seed and harvest; crops are then sold to make money; and sometimes a slight detour is made over a mountain, then it is back to step one. I am unsure if I am walking in the shadows of countless evil farmers that worked before me, or if I am a trailblazer in the decadent farming community. I drive like I have never driven before, using my tractor like a character from Skyrim trying to ascend an impossible peak.

A complete career mode, including business management, as well as new animals like chickens and sheep. This series has a ton of potential, as proven by its far superior PC releases, but nearly all of that is thrown away in the name of simplifying the experience for the portable market. The game could be much better, if the developer would have focused on a smooth interface and more realistic physics. It includes a new forestry-themed map "Silverrun Forest" as well as 40 new machines (mainly Volvo BM branded), and most of which are for forestry use. A genuine simulation gaming phenomenon, Farming Simulator has surprised the world once again by becoming, with the 2013 edition, a worldwide best-seller with over 400,000 copies sold at launch!

I should probably take a step back to figure out the exact moment that caused this dastardly descent, but that is perhaps a story for another day. In other words it all looks nice on the surface, but when you try and do anything with it, you can’t. The entire experience is exclusively focused on the farmland itself, but just as a model train set looks better when there are plastic buildings and people around it, so to does Farming Simulator benefit from having an environment around the fields of crops. The game was originally revised, expanded, and re-released every two years, (excluding their newest release) with better graphics, a larger array of vehicles, and more interesting tasks for the user to perform. These include fertilizing the fields multiple times throughout the growth stages, plowing the field after a set amount of harvests, de-weeding crops, or using oilseed radish as a cover crop. If I was to say to you “hey, I’m going to skip this awesome party that you’ve invited me to to go and play Farming Simulator,” and you hadn’t played a Farming Simulator game before, you would possibly think I’ve gone insane. While it does feature more drivable vehicles and equipment, it lacks many features like lumber, and frontloaders. Also introduced are tree marking and new log transport methods including containers, winches, and yarders. The game is all about making more money to progress, but the grind to get it is monotonous, meaning most will lose the will to toil away on the farm long before getting access to the bigger, better machinery.

Though the series targets the audience that are knowledgeable in the farming industry, the series is generally liked by both farmers and non-farmers alike. It’s a reasonably abstracted system that makes a great point about farming – the margins that farmers face are thin at the best of times, start bringing on staff to help and building a sustainable business becomes a real challenge.
