About this deal

As this is a Hairy Bikers' cookbook the recipe instructions and straightforward and easy to follow and I believe that even the most amateur of cooks would have success with the recipes in this book.

A proper curry can be an exquisitely fragrant dish, with delicate flavours that surprise and titillate your taste buds, and the Hairy Bikers, bestselling authors and BBC presenters, are here to show you how to make the most delicious, authentic curries you've ever tasted in your own kitchen. Unlike some TV chefs, they actually tell you quantities etc while they're working, and the camera shows more of the food being prepared than the cooks striking poses and gurning for the camera. Coming in at nigh on 400 pages this is a great book for anyone who has even the slightest interest in making delicious curries for their family and friends. Also the spices in the tikka marinade I felt were too harsh they felt raw and uncooked to me so I wouldn't use that marinade again but everything else has been superb and there are more I want to make so i will add more as I make them. Once you have read this, I am sure that even the most novice cook will feel prepared to try a few recipes and there are some wonderful recipes to choose from. It's a beautiful book with a wealth of information and recipes, however be warned: many of the recipes are complex and require a lot of steps and pre-preparation.

I love the Good Basic Curry Sauce and I think the section entitled The Basics is a great resource if you are new to cooking curries it has really good descriptions of all the spices and what you need to make a great curry. They offer recipes from simple to full on feast so there should be something to suit everyone’s needs. Great stuff, full of wonderful recipes with detailed descriptions of many ingredients and spices from around the world, well worth picking up for curry lovers.

We did up the spices in the lamb saag as we prefer ours with abit more punch but that is the beauty of curries you can adapt them to your own tastes. I have been cooking curries for over 40 years now, and the Hairy Bikers Great Curries is probably the best curry book I own. Lots of lovely photographs of the finished dishes throughout, along with a comprehensive reference section - spices, techniques, menus etc. There are some recipes using time saving ingredients like ready made curry paste for if you are shorter on time but you could always substitute them for homemade if you wish.

until I tried out some of these recipes they were full of flavour that I cannot describe with words. I can't even give a favs stand out meal as all of them are so good but the Goan fish soup is one I've made a few times. Most recipes have really good photographs so you get a good idea of how the finished recipe should look.

You can imagine this being perfect food for a hungry rugby team or great to feed to fireman in a fire station or for any club or group of people getting together to share some food.Whether you favour a delicately spiced korma or crave the chilli hit of a vindaloo, this is a curry-eaters delight.
