After the Axalon crash-landed on a mysterious planet, the most youthful crew member of the disabled ship chose a cheetah as his new beast form. Impressed with his own appearance, the young 'bot renamed himself Cheetor. Introducing himself as Croaton, the Titan told them his story, apologizing for any trouble he'd caused before he set off to find the colonists that had been abducted from him. Ghost Town Noah and the Autobots meet the former follower, a creature called Dinobot looking for the Maximals to atone for his past sins. But how could they trust him with the battle of Scourge still a shadow in their minds? Cheetor treats her like a little sister to him as he scold her for getting into trouble like going into Toni's house without thinking. At Axalon, the Maximals were given difficulty with a storm occurring near their base. As Dinobot continued to have trouble with a device of his, Cheetor came over to assist him. Though his intentions were well-meaning, he failed and was nearly choked out by Dinobot for his incompetence until Optimus Primal arrived. After being let go off, Cheetor gave Optimus insight on their device and their intentions to install energon monitoring devices with it. Optimus denied him, as he believed the mission would be too dangerous and reminded Cheetor his decision was for the team and not just him.

Cheetor is the only Maximal Megatron never refers to by name throughout Beast Wars and Beast Machines.Cheetor of the Fur Walkers was forged on the colony world of Eukaris, emerging from the hot spot of his world's Titan, Chela. As the "Talon of Onyx Prime", Chela championed his Prime's love of beast-formers over standard-formers, likely influencing the beast modes of his people. By modern times, the people of Eukaris had divided into four major tribes. Cheetor was representative of the Fur Walkers on the rare occasion the tribes met under a white flag for talks.

Labeled toy 4 of 6, the other characters in his wave were Dinobot, Rattrap, Megatron, Optimus Primal, and Rhinox.
